MPUMALANGA
Mpumalanga (The place where the sun rises) has extraordinary scenic beauty with such places as God's Window where on a clear day one can see the hills of Mozambique in the distance and the Blyde River Canyon. Down the road from Blyde River is Bourkes Luck potholes, millions of years old. The gold rush towns of Pilgrims Rest and Barberton offer visitors the history of gold mining in the country. Manufacturing and mining are the two strong money spinners in this province producing about 85% of the country's coal as well as large stainless steel plants and several paper mills. The province is well known for it's agricultural activities including citrus, bananas and nuts. The Maputo Corridor to Mozambique runs through the province and past the capital, Nelspruit.
